We provide opportunities for children do develop a richand varied vocabulary, read to inform learning and listen to others and respond appropriately. | Our Geography curriculum encourages pupils to talk in all areas of learning; communicating their ideas in a range of different and imaginative ways, so they are able tocommunicate effectively with confidence and enthusiasm. |
Community | We aspire to ensure that our curriculumenables all children to develop the emotional understanding necessary to experience positive relationships, to develop a sense of justice and an ability to empathise, which in turn leads to respect for themselves and others. | Our curriculum enables our children to develop an understanding about their local community, where they live and how we can impact on ourlocal area, including recycling, pollution and land use. We also teach children about our wider world and communities as well as learn about our differences. |
Adventure | We aspire to inspire curiosity and fuelimagination in our pupils whilst empowering them to delve into the unknown and embrace the uniqueness of their ideas. | Children who are inquisitive and want to learnabout the world around them. |
Learning knowledge is not an end point in itself, it is a springboard to learning more knowledge. Each unit in ouroverview is underpinned by rich, substantive knowledge and ambitious vocabulary, whilst also ensuring children aredeveloping their disciplinary knowledge (historical skills). Each unit of work is planned carefully to ensure conceptsare taught in optimal order to support children's understanding. As well as developing a breadth of subjectknowledge, we want our children to develop subject specific skills. In addition to substantive and disciplinary knowledge, children will develop their experiential knowledge through carefully planned enrichment activities.
