Term 6 highlights

Welcome to Term 6 Beachcombers

Oh, I do like to be beside the seaside. Do you? That’s good, because you’re about to become an expert beachcomber. Head to your nearest beach to look for interesting and unusual objects, using your senses to spot, sniff and seek them out. Have you seen the rock pools yet? We can take a peek into the cool water to learn about the weird and wonderful animals and plants in their microhabitats. Maybe we can kick back in a deckchair and do a little reading. What’s your favourite book about the seashore? Let's invent an amazing rock pool resident. What features will it need to survive happily in its watery habitat? Make a 3-D model of your plant or creature. Got your shorts and sunglasses on? Bucket and spade at the ready? Let’s get beachcombing.

Timetable for Term 6

A messy, mixed up and mucky afternoon!

Our busy first day back!

Pyjamas and PE

In science today we used our observation skills to listen carefully to different sounds around school. We heard some things that we don't usually notice when we are playing outside.

Today we thought about Remembrance and created a poppy wreath together.

We began our Beat Band Boogie! topic by investigating whether bigger ears help us hear sounds better. It was a great opportunity to develop our curiosity. We wondered why animals usually have two ears and why they are different shapes and sizes. What a brilliant first day back Dahl!

Extra help for letter and number formation will also make a big difference.

Below are some videos from the 2019/2020. Enjoy.

The Big Clean Up! Our whole school took to the outside area and in the spirit of our core values, looked after our environment and cleaned up the playground, field and school perimeter #community #ecoschool #believeachievegrow

A visit from Wiltshire Air Ambulance - Helping the children understand emergency first aid and when to call 999!

DAHL CLASS GET FESTIVE! - With Christmas looming, it is time to put up the tree!

Castle Building Day!

A very warm welcome to Dahl Class!

It has been a wonderful (if not a little chilly) start to the year. Already, we have enjoyed getting stuck in to our first topic of the year, 'Superheroes!'. We have learnt the story of Supertato and even had a go at writing some of our own!

We have also started writing instructions and as a class we had a great time making and eating jam sandwiches! They were soooooo delicious we all ate seconds!

Our class stories have been based on Roald Dahl as it is our class name. The first book we read was George's Marvellous Medicine - we laughed out loud a lot! As a class, we then decided to read James and the Giant Peach! We have just got to the part where James goes inside the peach.

Over the next 2 weeks, our Superhero topic takes us in a healthy direction as we are going to find out what foods are healthy, write some recipes and finally cook some delightful food!

We cannot believe how fast this first term is going, it has been so much fun already!

Ready, steady SUPER COOK!
