British Values

The Department for Education has recently published guidance expressing the need to create and enforce a clear and rigorous expectation on all schools to promote the fundamental British Values of:

  • Democracy
  • The Rule of Law
  • Individual Liberty
  • Mutual respect
  • Tolerance of those with different faiths and beliefs.

As a Primary School within the Diocese of Salisbury Academy Trust, we seek to promote these values through the Trust vision statement.  Our curriculum approach ensures that these values are addressed frequently through Religious Education, personal and social development, behaviour and reward systems and circle time, as well as through Collective Worship and extra-curricular activities.

As an organisation, we will actively challenge pupils, staff and parents who express opinioins contrary to the above values.  All of our staff have undertaken PREVENT training so are alert to the need to respond to potential extremism and radicalisation.
