Welcome to our Science Pages!

At Shrewton we are very fortunate to have fantastic outdoor facilities which allow us to explore the local area; its habitats, plant and animal life.

We are now following the New Curriculum for Science which  became statutory in September 2014.

Check back soon to see some of our work!

Science Week

We thoroughly enjoyed our science week and everyone had the opportunity to try out various investigations and record their findings.

Each class was also given a challenge and working together had to come up with a scientific solution.

Hawk class - mini beast hunt

Kite rocket balloon

Eagle seperating sand, salt and water

Kestrel making a thaumatrope

Owl inflating a balloon using a chemical reaction

Space Seeds

We were fortunate to have been chosen to participate in a National investigation in growing rocket seeds from space. We were sent 2 packets of seeds - one red and one blue - and were asked to grow them and take periodic measurements and observations. These recordings were then sent on to a National data base and eventually we will be told which colour packet were the ones from space.
