Quiz the Clergy (and Mrs Kay!)
We visited St Mary's Church to talk to Reverend Eleanor, Reverend Stephane, Heather and Church Warden Gay about the Christmas Story. We have been considering whether we believe the story is true or not and also what messages the story provides and how these messages are still important nowadays. What a fantastic afternoon and some thoughtful discussion and questioning from all in Owl class.
Primary Maths Challenge Competitors and Prize Winners!
Eleven of our Year 5 and 6 children took part in the National Primary Maths Challenge competition. This is a prestigious competition run by the Mathematical Association, aimed at the most able mathematicians from across the country. The children had to complete the 25 questions in 45 minutes and they all agreed that they were very challenging! All of the class teachers found them tricky too! Well done to all of you who competed and especially to our top prize winners.
The Great Apostrophe Challenge
We have been learning about Apostrophes for possession and omission and sorting sentence using this criteria. In particular we are remembering that plural nouns that end in -s DO NOT have an apostrophe!
Welcome back to the 2nd part of the Autumn term! All of the children have returned with great focus and determination to get back to work! Fantastic - well done Owls!
To help everyone, I am attaching the statutory spelling lists that we have been working on and a list of useful websites for homework help, additional practice and SATS preparation. This term I shall also be collecting Reading Record books in every day to help children with their organisational skills and to ensure that they are reading regularly and recording this.
Finally, we look forward to seeing you all at Praise Assembly on Friday (10th Nov) and hope that you can join us in the classroom afterwards!
