Hawk Class

Hawk class assembly and showcase.

The last few weeks of term have been busy. Our learning has continued and also included an exciting visit to Marwell zoo, sharing our learning (and biscuits - yum!) with Shrewton day centre, then performing our assembly to the rest of the school and our families. We hoped you enjoyed the assembly and weather themed showcase.

We are scientists!

These photos show a selection of our learning from our weather topic and seasonal work.

We have also been working together using our scientific skills to explore and test materials for a slide and shelter for a teddy.

Thank you for helping your child create their weather box! They look amazing!

We are weather presenters!

We have used our geography skills and knowledge to talk about North South, east and West, the different countries of the UK to talk about the seasonal weather patterns in the UK and forecast the weather.

More videos of our forecasts will be coming soon!

We have been very lucky this week to have a visit from a Doctor, a Scientist and a Farmer.

They helped us to learn about science in every day life. We learnt about our bodies and how to look after them, the tools Doctor's use to help care for us and how fast germs spread using sparkly glitter. We learn how to grow food through the seasons and how the weather can be good or not so good for growing.

In English, we wrote questions to ask our visitors. In maths we recorded rainfall and temperature. Then we all took part in an edible science investigation!

Working in Partnership

We enjoy working in partnership with our families to help children make good progress with their learning. This creates opportunities to share children's interests, so we can best help children to practice and learn new knowledge, understanding and skills.

EYFS

Shared learning mornings will be on Friday 12th May and Friday 30th May.

Don't forget to use Tapestry or click on the link for more WOW slips, to record and share the amazing things your child can do.

EYFS and Y1

Our Class Showcase will be on 14th July.

Photos will be added to the website shortly after each event.

We look forward to seeing you at these and other upcoming school events. Please see the newsletter for important diary dates.

Summer Term 2017

This term our topic is 'Weather Experts'. You can find out what we will be learning on our class topic web.

Thank you to all parents, grandparents and carers for working with us to help your child enjoy and achieve. You are such an important part of your child's learning journey.  As always, if you have any questions, concerns or WOW moments you wish to share about your child, please feel free to talk to me at the end of the day.

Best wishes for a fantastic Summer Term!

Hawk Diary Dates.

We are looking forward to our next EYFS Shared Learning morning on Friday 31st March, following praise assembly at 9am.

We are also preparing for our Y1 and EYFS Class Showcase on Friday 7th April at 1.40 followed by our class assembly.

It is great your share your child's learning in school with you but also great to hear what your child has been learning at home too.

Celebrating world book day.

We had fun dressing up and guessing which characters our friends were. In the afternoon, children from Kestral class shared stories with us.

 Post Office visit

Today we explored the continuing journey of the letters we have written, as we learnt where the post office was, how to buy stamps and post our letters.

We were also very surprised by the amount of numbers, letters and words we saw during our visit. We used our number recognition and phonic knowledge to read them. A child in Year 1 even spotted where you could win £1000! Lets keep our fingers crossed!

We are really looking forward to receiving our letters in our own letter boxes in our homes and sharing them with our families. We hope you enjoy listening to your child read their letter to you.

Spring Term EYFS Shared Learning.

EYFS Parents and Grandparents, thank you for joining us in our shared learning mornings. If you are unable to join us, don't worry, hopefully these web pages can help your child share what they have been learning with you.

The dates for this term are: Friday 3rd February and Friday 31st March.

We have been reading Oliver's Fruit Salad. This helped us to learn about where seeds come from, how they grow and the countries fruit comes from. Then we wrote a recipe for our own fruit salad and made it. Delicious!
